Memorial Day: Honoring our Fallen Heroes

In honor of Memorial Day, we wanted to give you practical ways to care for and support the families of the heroes who so bravely gave their lives so that we would have a better future. We also offer organizations who are supporting wounded military members, and mental health support for military & families. Here are 3 organizations you can donate to this Memorial Day to say "Thank You" and give back to the people who have given so much for us.

How can I give back to those who made the Ultimate Sacrifice?

1.) Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation (Fallen Patriots) Approximately 20,000 children have suffered the loss of loved ones due to their family member's brave sacrifice over the last 35 years. Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation (Fallen Patriots) aims to ensure that every such child receives all necessary college funding, to make a difference in their lives. Read this testimony, and more, at fallenpatriots.org: "Fallen Patriots has been such a blessing to me and my three siblings,” said scholarship recipient Daniel Bertolino. He was 12 years old when his father, U.S. Army Staff Sergeant Stephen Bertolino was killed during Operation Iraqi Freedom. “Thanks to Fallen Patriots, I was able to graduate from college debt-free, with a job offer in hand. My father having never graduated college himself would be so proud of me. When I lost my father, I gained a new family through Fallen Patriots, and what a blessing they have been to me through tough times," Daniel said.

2.) Wounded Warrior Project: WWP is committing $10 million to COVID-19 relief for warriors. "These are unprecedented times, and we must do all we can to meet the immediate financial needs of wounded warriors and their families," said Lt. Gen. (Ret.) Mike Linnington, WWP CEO. "Due to their injuries and service-connected disabilities, our nation's wounded and injured veterans are at great risk. Many are coping with a weakened immune system, increased isolation, and financial hardship. We will do all we can to help these warriors and their families through these immensely challenging times and offer opportunities of assistance for companies and foundations to match our commitment of $10 million so we can extend this help to more warriors in need. We cannot do this alone, as the pandemic is greater than any one organization's ability to meet the vast demand. We call on others to assist so we may help as many warriors and their families in crisis as possible in this difficult time." Read more at https://www.woundedwarriorproject.org/

3.) Project Sanctuary: In a recent blogpost, Project Sanctuary reports, “Project Sanctuary has been carefully monitoring resources for military families as the COVID-19 pandemic bears down on the lives of all Americans. Family Support at Project Sanctuary was created to respond to these ever-changing needs which affect our well-being and we respond accordingly with referrals for counseling, collaboration with other organizations, or by providing direct assistance”.
