julia Roach, M.A., NCC, LPC-MHSP

One of my primary missions is to approach the lives of my clients with a respectful curiosity about their story, learn more about their individual experience, and then apply therapeutic training towards developing the most effective, healing process possible. I long for every client to feel seen, respected and loved right where they are. I believe that unconditional, positive regard is the foundation and catalyst for transformation and growth.

I have a passion for discovering and guiding the development of a client’s strengths. Part of strength refinement is connected to the parts of ourselves that are less developed. I have so much respect for those who open their heart to change and learn to release patterns and coping strategies that are no longer serving them or their relationships well. The counseling process is a step towards freedom and I consider walking alongside clients an honor and privilege.

My master’s degree is in Mental Clinical Health Counseling from Trevecca Nazarene University and am currently pursuing TN licensure. My undergrad degree is from Auburn University where I majored in elementary education. I am incredibly thankful to be part of the Cypress Counseling Group! I am NCC board certified, have received my Tennessee LPC-MSHP license and am also a member of the Nashville Area Association of Christian Counselors as well as the Tennessee Licensed Professional Counselor Association.

I am Level I and II EMDR trained. I am also level I trained in Brainspotting, have been trained in Narrative Exposure Therapy, Interpersonal Social Rhythm Therapy and have experience in addiction recovery. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance Commitment Therapy and Logotherapy are all part of treatment modalities that I draw from as well. I hope to implement interventions that have the most effective, evidenced based foundations for healing and recovery while embracing the individuality of every client. Just as we have a unique set fingerprints, our souls and our stories are distinct and unique as well.

I moved to Nashvillle with my family in 1977 and have been part of the middle Tennessee community for 44 years! I am a mom to three and have had the adventure and joy of parenting through different developmental stages through young adulthood. It is the most challenging and rewarding part of my journey so far. My interests include gardening, thrifting, reading and all things creative. I am also an artist and am honored to have my work displayed at The Refuge Center for Counseling and the counseling center at Christ Community Church.
