Pam Kennedy Haga, MS, LPC-MHSP

Pam graduated in 1996 with her Masters in Counseling Psychology from Texas A& M University-Texarkana. She worked for 7+ years as an individual and family counselor with Youth Villages, Centerstone, and Metro Government Caring for Children in Nashville and Columbia, TN.  She has had extensive training in Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing for Trauma (EMDR) as well as Relational Life Therapy. This type of therapy involves not only teaching better communication skills, but also healing from past trauma.  Unless we have done our emotional work, we tend to carry into our current relationships our old scripts from our past relationships.

Pam has two offices: On Mondays and Wednesdays she sees clients in East Nashville (2621 Gallatin Pike). On Tuesdays and Thursdays, and the occasional Sundays, she sees clients at Cypress (9025 Overlook Blvd Brentwood).

If you are interested in scheduling an appointment or finding out more about my practice, please do not hesitate to call or email.  I look forward to working together with you.

CLINICAL SPECIALTIES: Divorce/Loss/Grief counseling, Trauma/PTSD work, Inner Child work and reparenting, Couples, Relationship/Boundary issues, Personal Growth, Depression, and Anxiety/Stress management. LGBTQ supportive

ABOUT PAMELA

The biggest thing I want clients to walk away remembering is that healing, learning to love themselves, and creating a new script for their lives is a PRACTICE.  The more we practice at our new script, the better we get at it.  When people don’t believe me, I remind them that the toxic thoughts they brought into therapy is just that…a script.  That they have been practicing their whole lives and, have gotten really good at memorizing. Imagine how our story/script would be if we were taught grace and self-love at a young age? To know our worth, to know we will make choices that didn’t serve us, but that we can hold ourselves accountable and work to repair.  And still be just as worthy at the end.  We are the product of a script handed to us by our caretakers, which was handed to them by their caretakers, and so on. Our script is basically the messages we’ve told ourselves about ourselves.

We all have a story, and in each of our stories, in one way or another, our souls have been bruised.  Depression, anxiety, divorce/relationship issues, trauma, family crisis, & many other issues can slowly chip away at our self-worth, our sense of belonging, our hope.  My story is no different.  I had a family that loved me the best they could with the tools they had.  But the script they were brought up with did not serve them or me well at times. I’m a child of divorce, and a divorced parent. I’m a griever of great loss, and the recipient of rebirth. I’ve been and remain on both sides of the couch. I’ve done and continue to do my emotional work so I can be the best version of myself in all aspects of life. I have no magic wand.  I cannot make troubles disappear.  I can, however, walk with you & give you the tools to find inner peace & self-love in the midst of chaos.

After graduation with my Masters in 1996, I made the brave but scary move to Nashville from Texas and began my counseling career. I found love, married in 2000, and gave birth to two beautiful sons.  I chose a hiatus from the counseling field to stay at home with my boys, who are now 16 and 13. My sons’ father and I completed our marriage in 2014. We have worked very hard to be amazing co-parents despite the pain from our divorce.  My ex is now remarried to a wonderful woman who loves my children, and it’s all I could ever ask for them. I met my husband Eric through our children.  Eric was a widower after having lost his beautiful wife to cancer. Together they had a baby girl who is now 10 years old.  We live as the Brady Bunch in Brentwood.  Life together is what I call a “beautiful insanity”, and I believe we are raising our children with the best tools we have in our toolbelt. But definitely with a lot of LOVE.

I am passionate about helping others and am happy to be back doing what I love.

I look forward to walking with you on your journey.
